Bombina Oriental Fire Bellied Toad " Chopstick & Deuce" |
|
About Fire Bellid Toads
The Oriental Fire-bellied Toad, Bombina orientalis, is actually not a toad, but
a semi-aquatic frog. A very curious and active frog, as an added plus, they are
diurnal, so you don't have to wait up to see them. These guys are almost comical
in their antics, as they swim and hop around their enclosure, which should be at
least half water. Their bright belly coloration is there to warn
predators. These frogs secret a somewhat toxic substance, that, although not
dangerous to humans could harm tank mates of a different species.
